According to the newest studies, women who frequently eat red meat and its products have high risk of getting the breast cancer.
Doctors are warning the whole public, for a long time now, that red meat increases the likelihood of getting a bowel and pancreas cancer, but up until now the breast cancer wasn’t included.
In the newest study, scientists from Harvard University analyzed the data from the sample of 88000 women in the age from 26 to 45. Data were filled in the poll in 1991. Their result in the nutrition part and specifically consuming the red meat varied from never and less than once a month to six or more times a day. Initial results were published in 2006 and they prove direct link between the consumption of the red meat and the breast cancer, and the newest researches confirmed earlier findings.
Scientist on the basis of this sample, conclude that during the analysis of the women who ingested large quantities of the red meat, from 1000 surveyed 8 cases more appeared as opposed to those who didn’t at all or at least used less of the red meat.
In developed countries in which many chemical products are used in animal nutrition, women who eat red meat have 12.5% greater risk of getting the breast cancer. Scientists concluded that proteins in red meat fasten the mutation of the cells as well as the tumor growth. Chemicals such as nitrates in meat products are marked as carcinogenic long time ago.
Study was conducted mainly among educated, white American women and scientist say that these results are not, for now, applicable to women of other races. This poll was followed by the National institute of health.
“This research emphasizes the importance of healthy diet” Sally Greenbrook, Senior policy officer in organization Breakthrough Brest Cancer, UK said. She pointed out the women should preventively watch what they eat and in this manner to decrease the chance of getting the breast cancer.
Dr. Valerie Beral, expert on cancer from Oxford University declared that vegetarians have the least chance of getting any form of cancer there is.
